09-09-09 Apple's "It's Only Rock and Roll" Event

With Aerosmith blaring in the sound system, hundreds of media and thousands of cameras, guests of Apple’s “It’s Only Rock n Roll” anxiously wait to begin.

CEO Steve Jobs led the Apple event today with some great news for Apple fans (and investors): In the past two years they have sold 30 million iPhones. The App Store was released last year and has over 75000 apps that have been downloaded over 1.8 billion times. That’s insane!

But the real news: Today is the release of the new iPhone OS 3.1, which can be used on both the iPod touch and iPhone. Among other features and updates, now the iPod and iPhone have Genius function road-tested with iTunes. Good or bad? You decide. They have also added over 30,000 ringtones to the App Store for a “breakthrough price of $1.29.” So if you have an iPod or iPhone make sure to update to 3.1, and guess what… It’s FREE!

…maybe these guys are just about to found a web start-up. Whatever the case, dudes made off with 23 MacBook Pros, 14 iPhones and 9 iPods by tossing a brick through the window of an Apple Store in New Jersey. All in 31 seconds. If Mr. Action News didn’t glorify the impressiveness of the feat enough: daaaaayyuumm that’s quick!

Anyone care to wager whether this goes “viral” or not? Like, in “reality” …not the YouTubes.
