Biking to work: The future of America?
Badass bike commuter.
How do you get to work? Public transit? Your energy-efficient Prius? Your earth-scorching Hummer?
Here in Denver, bikers — ahem — “cyclists” run, er…bike rampant. There’s a lot to be said for promoting the public transit/bicycle combo as a means to stimulate economic growth. Newsweek and Slate columnist Daniel Gross writes about Denver’s green-commute approach: “When I showed up at Gov. Bill Ritter’s office, an aide was carting a bicycle rack out of the inner sanctum.”
Does your city make it easy for you to bike to work or use public transit? If not, hopefully they soon will.
Washington D.C. is getting a head start. One of the biggest headaches for city cyclists is theft. Bikestation to the rescue!

This odd and intriguing structure will house 130 bikes, lockers and a small repair station. How great would it be to see these pop up in more cities along with bike-sharing programs? Find out more about the Bikestation from an NPR story here.
